Prima Multi Terminal, Indonesia invests in Visy Access Gate and OCR System

Terminal invested in innovation and automation utilizes Visy gate operating system to strengthen position in containerized cargo handling sector

Visy with its cooperation with Konecranes and PT. Primus Indonesia has been awarded a contract from Prima Multi Terminal (“PMT”), Indonesia to supply its Visy Access Gate GOS with OCR System. PMT selected the Visy solution to help them meet their growth strategy and while improving service to its customers.

The Visy System will consist of a single, integrated system for quayside and gate operations. On the quay, the 3 quay cranes will be equipped with TopView spreader OCR and SideView track-mounted OCR cameras for container identification. Together, the system will image five sides of the boxes during single-pick operations and 4-sides during twin lifts. The images will also be used for damage inspection purposes to help the terminal shed liability for boxes that arrive damaged. At the truck gate, there will be 4 high-resolution, line scan portals, 2-in and 2-out. Each portal will be equipped with OCR for license plate recognition and container identification. The portals will utilize line scan imaging technology for damage inspection purposes. There will also be 4 driver kiosks to digitize the gate processes and reduce the need for gate personnel. All Visy technology will operate on a single platform and communicate with the RBS terminal operating system (“TOS”).

”PMT plans to grow to 1.5 million TEU/year,” says Asmo Budi, Operation Director. ”With the investment in the Visy system we will be able to scale our business to meet our aggressive growth strategy. We have strong product support in Indonesia with Visy’s local partner and integrator, PT. Harbarindo Baharitama.”

”This is a fantastic opportunity for Visy to help a major terminal operator scale their business to the next level,” says Petri Granroth, CEO of Visy. ”By utilizing SideView and TopView together on the quay, we will deliver the highest levels of automation available. Between the quay and gate technologies, Visy will ensure that PMT reaches their productivity potential.”

The project is scheduled to start in first quarter of 2019 and conclude in 2019.
