Visy to deliver Truck and Rail OCR Portals to October Dry Port facility in Egypt

Visy has won the tender, with local partner PRIME Trading & Contracting, to deliver Truck and Rail OCR portals alongside Visy Access Gate GOS to October Dry Port in Egypt. The equipment will be delivered already in December of 2021, and on-site installation work will begin in Q1 2022.

October Dry Port is the second OCR project for Visy in Egypt. In 2017, Visy and PRIME were awarded the delivery of truck OCR and automated gate solutions for Alexandria Container Terminal. The system was the first OCR environment implemented in Egypt, and has been working for 4 years with great success.

“Freight and containerized traffic in Egyptian ports has shown robust growth in recent years and this trend is expected to continue. To cope with this booming market, there is a need for an Inland Customs Clearance Depot to de-bottleneck the various ports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas. The 6th of October Dry Port Project is Egypt’s first inland port project.”
