In 2017, Visy was selected to deliver APMT Gothenburg Visy Access Gate – gate automation environment with Truck OCR portals and a Rail OCR portal (Phase 1). After successful delivery of Phase 1, Visy was also awarded a contract to supply a Crane OCR camera system with TopView spreader OCR for 7 STS cranes and 2 RMG cranes in 2022-23 (Phase 2).
APM Terminals Gothenburg is an intermodal terminal that handles over 800 000 TEU annually, with services for rail and road cargo, as well as capabilities to serve the world’s largest 24,000+ TEU vessels. APMT Gothenburg is committed to being a world-class terminal, and the three core elements of their strategy are digitalization, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. Terminal investments are viewed in terms of how they contribute to those elements to ensure business objectives are met.

Soon after automating their gate processes with Visy Access Gate & Visy OCR portals, APMT Gothenburg reduced their truck turn-around time from 56 minutes to 25 minutes, allowing the terminal to serve more cargo. Shorter handling times have also had a positive effect in their green initiatives, with carbon emissions being reduced by 688 tonnes in 2020.
